 2. Copied from the internet or another student will get zero marks.
 3. You cannot participate in the discussion after the due date via email
 4. The GDB will open and close on a specified date and time.

 GDB Topic:

Suppose you are a database designer in a multinational company. The company has different departments such as Production, finance, and Sales etc.
The database design must meet the following characteristics:
·         The data must be shared in different departments
·         The data integrity of the database must maximum
·         The data redundancy must minimum
·         The database may be transparent
·         The data management, modification, and backup must be easier
Keeping the above points, which type of database would you suggest from the following:
 1. Distributed database
 2. Centralized database
In either case, justify your answer with valid reasons.

Solution

I will suggest the Centralized database type in accordance with the given set of characteristics or advantages. To justify my suggestion/answer I would like to share the following reasons:
1.      A single point approach is applied to store the data.
2.      It is cost-effective meaning cheaper
3.      The data integrity will lead to the improvement in the decision-making process.
4.      The design of the centralized database is simple.
5.      Saving a lot of time while analyzing the overall performance of the organization basis on the reports which provide fast and easy access.
6.      Managing A centralized database is simple as it is controlled from one location.
7.       The functions like modifications, the need for backup and recovery are the silent features of it.
8.      It provides a high level of data consistency.
9.      Reliability enhances due to minimizing redundancy.
10.  It helps to minimize your security risks both in physical form (laptops, notebooks can be lost or stolen) and in encrypted form-meaning that uses firewalls, rigorous password protection etc
